The Handshake

One of the first rites of passage into the NPH culture is "the handshake". Everyone does it, whether they are in kindergarten or the head director. Even my patient Rosi who has minimal movement in her fingers has her own version of it (I just have to remember to be gentle with her delicate joints). The shake itself is simple enough: slap first, then pound. It gets more complicated when you have to do it in passing or in crowds of kids...once you do it with one kid, everyone wants a piece. Referring back to my "Napkin" post, you can imagine that it can get messy at meal times too.
